AVAILABLE POSITIONS

Administration and Operations Manager

In this role you will serve as the primary resource for our team with regard to ministry operations. You will provide up-to-date information and coaching through internal communications and training, you will problem solve with our team, look for ways to improve functionality, and provide accountability through the day to day oversight of ministry operations.

You will represent our Administrative Team as a member of our Executive Leadership Team (ELT). You will ensure that the ELT has the information they need to make decisions in the field, and you will look for opportunities to support the field team through the identification of helpful resources and the provision of operational or administrative support.

Manager of Communications and Partnerships

As the Communications Manager at Awana International Canada, you will be the driving force behind all internal and external communication efforts. With your exceptional skills and expertise, you’ll oversee the communication planning process, create and refine content and identify opportunities to build stronger partnerships and donor relationships through clear and consistent communication.

We’re looking for someone who is confident in their ability to lead and execute effective communication strategies that align with Awana’s strategic plan and core values. You’ll be responsible for ensuring all communication with stakeholders is clear, consistent and aligned
with our mission.

With your exceptional communication skills and strategic mindset, you’ll be instrumental in enhancing our brand and promoting our vision to a wider audience. You’ll work closely with various departments to ensure that all communication efforts are aligned with our goals and values. FINANCE MANAGER

The role will be a part-time Canadian based remote position with a flexible schedule. Awana International Canada is in the process of seeking our next Finance Manager to serve as a part of our leadership for our national ministry.

The Finance Manager will work closely with the Executive Leadership Team and the Executive Director in order to financially steward the ministry and give support and direction in strategic planning.

The Finance Manager not only plays a key role in financial accountability and reporting, but as well must be able to feel the ministries heart to grow.

We are seeking a qualified finance professional with corporate experience and knowledge of the not-for-profit sector to help develop and grow the Awana Canada Ministry. The ideal candidate will be adaptable and support decision-making through financial data analysis with timely reporting to the Executive Director, Board, and Executive Leadership Team.

Responsibilities include leading all financial reporting, collaborating on budgets and forecasts, ensuring compliance with Federal and Provincial reporting deadlines, and reviewing accounts monthly while adhering to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.

The primary purpose of this role is to support the Awana Canada Ministry by providing accurate and timely financial information, creating financial projections for decision-making, and ensuring all external reporting deadlines are met. A positive “can-do” attitude is essential, as the ministry flexes and moves based on the season. Internal Reporting

• Monthly financial reporting

• Variance analysis, oversight of chart of accounts

• Month end entries-(deferred revenue, pre-paid, cap assets, admin fees, fund transfers) as needed

• Reconciliation of accounts – as needed

• Executive Director Report provides key performance indicators to aid decision-making.

• Operations Reports

• Sales analysis (monthly as needed)

• Cost of sales analysis (monthly as needed)

• Annual pricing updates (based on discussions with ED)

Qualifications & Competencies

• Accounting designation CPA or CMA

• 10+ years experience in accounting

• An asset would be to have a familiarity with a church/mission-based/para-church organization

and or experience in the charitable sector

• Advanced computer skills with good knowledge of Quickbooks, Excel, and other accounting software.

• Understanding of CCCC’s and CRA regulations and reporting requirements

• Knowledge and experience in Payroll Accounting

1 (ADP) would be a great asset to have for this

MINISTRY DEVELOPMENT COORDINATOR: PRAIRIES / WEST COAST

Ministry Development: Coordinator for Prairies or West Coast Region.

Ministry Development Coordinators work within a specific region or regions to support the mission of Awana to equip leaders to reach kids through long-term relational discipleship. Their primary concern is the health of ministry at the local church level, the development of local leaders, and the growth and sustainability of the ministry in their region through new ministry development and fundraising.

REPORTS TO:

Primary – National Field Team Director

Secondary – Executive Director

Part-time or Full-time: Full-time (30-40 hours per week)

Travel: 3 – 4 weeks per year with day trips throughout the year.

Benefits Included: $75 Internet/ month, $50 phone /month. 2 weeks of vacation plus 2 weeks shut-down over Christmas. Full-time employees will also have health benefits, and GRSP options with employer contribution.

Responsibilities

1. Church Care – Connecting with and caring for our partners:
● Calling, emailing and virtually reaching out to our partnered churches
● Arranging meetings, discussions with Pastors and Ministry Directors
● Identify needs and areas where we can support or provide training
● Encourage leaders and pray for partners
● Answer questions in order to ensure they are able to run ministries with confidence

2. Training and Ministry Support – Building successful ministries:
● Arrange and run training sessions for ministry leaders, onsite or virtual
● Facilitate discussion with leaders through virtual round-table events
● Provide recommendations on leading well, supporting leaders, developing leaders and engaging young leaders for the future.
● Ministry/Church visits and presentations
● Promote the integration of ministry initiatives such as AwanaGO

3. Fund Development – Aligning Awana’s vision with the donor’s/churches passion to give:
● Speak highly of the ministry at all times
● Serve our churches, leaders and parents humbly
● Actively engage with mission boards, pastors, leaders, parents, and other individuals in order to promote funding the ministry.
● Actively work to understand each area of the ministry that needs support in order to effectively communicate with donors or potential donors.
● Actively engage in donor relationships through passion alignment, donor appreciation, and reporting or story-sharing.
● Story / photo collection to support reporting and storytelling both regionally and nationally
● Aligning partners with the mission and vision of Awana and helping them invest in something meaningful

4. Other
● You may at times be called upon to take responsibility to lead or assist with national ministry initiatives as you identify interest and capability.
● You are responsible for the growth and development of the ministry in your region
o Identification of potential Volunteer Advocates or Staff
o Development and mentoring of new Volunteer Advocates
o Identification and support of new ministry start-ups

Qualifications:

The right person is familiar with Awana and has a passion to reach kids with the gospel. In addition, the successful candidate will have:

● Excellent communication skills in person and through email
● Ability to work with remote teams from a home office (must be self-motivated)
● A relational approach to ministry development
● Proven ability to walk alongside, develop and mentor volunteers
● Experience speaking in front of groups possibly at conferences or trainings
● Experience implementing a plan
● Ability to manage a budget including annual funding targets
● Basic computer proficiency, including Google Workspace, ZOHO, Zoom, Humi, Keela
● Ability to travel within their region and occasionally across Canada

VOLUNTEER ADVOCATES

Do you love the Awana Ministry and want others to experience it too?

Our Awana Volunteer Advocates bring enthusiasm and experience to the ministry as they connect with folks who want to learn more about Awana. Our volunteers help church leaders to understand not just how an Awana program works, but why it is so impactful too.

Volunteers are available to answer questions from people in their community who are considering starting an Awana program in their church. Our volunteers love to welcome these folks into their home church to show them what a ministry night looks like in real time.

Our volunteers are friendly, competent and passionate leaders who want kids to know Jesus. To us, they are leaders worth investing in. We offer opportunities for growth as well as inviting volunteers into a National Team who work together for the sole purpose of helping kids Belong to a loving community, Believe God’s word, and Become followers of Jesus.

PARTNER CARE COORDINATOR

As the front line for our partner churches in the Awana Canada ministry, Partner Care is the cornerstone of ongoing support. This role fosters relationships with our partner churches, assisting with everything from curriculum inquiries to shipping concerns. This position requires meticulous attention to detail for data and shipment tracking. Join us in this dynamic role where you’ll be at the forefront of ensuring seamless assistance in the ministry’s diverse needs.
