The mission of Awana is to reach every child, everywhere!

God has opened doors of opportunity for us to reach over 2 million children with the gospel each week, and new doors are opening every day. Girls and boys encounter Jesus at Awana ministries in more than 100 countries. They find a fun environment where trained leaders disciple them to know, love and serve Jesus. Whether they live in a city or the suburbs, a refugee camp or an orphanage, a dusty rural village or high in the mountains, every child, everywhere matters to God … and every child matters to Awana.

CUBA 2024-2025

Cuba is a country with a population of over 11 million, with children under 18 representing 21% of that number (2,331,000 children). With a communist government founded on Marxism-Leninism, Christians are not allowed to hold positions of leadership in government, and as teachers, are pressured to teach the government curriculum only. Proselytizing (to recruit or convert to a new faith, institution, or cause) is banned by law and there is the constant threat of persecution by the government.

Public schools are government schools, and even Christian kids must attend them. All children are taught about the government and communism, and to get good grades they need to excel at these classes all while staying strong in their Christian faith.

Cuba is rooted in idolatry and tends towards African folklore and spiritism with much idol worship. While it can be a dark place, the light of the gospel shines brightest in that darkness! Through all the hardship and negative influence, a revival is happening, churches are growing, and many are coming to the Lord.
