AwanaGO Thailand!
We will provide leader training and English for the Awana curriculum. We are also starting the process of translating the Awana curriculum into Thai for the whole region.
One of the local schools in the Chiang Mai will be the initial launch site for some of the core Awana curriculum.
While this groundwork is being laid, there is also the need for work to be done on the translation of other regional discipleship curriculum.
WHY THAILAND?
Thailand is predominantly Buddhist, with Christians making up only 1.2%–1.4% of the population. In Chiang Mai, the Christian population is higher at approximately 16%, yet many children still have little opportunity to know Jesus. The Awana team in Chiang Mai is committed to helping boys and girls experience God’s love and become lifelong disciples who make disciples.
Many children in northern Thailand live in orphanages, boarding schools, or temple-based care, where poverty is the leading cause of family separation, rather than true orphanhood. We want to partner with the Awana team there to strengthen families and prevent children from entering institutional care whenever possible.
