God has been at work through Awana in Canada, transforming lives through the power of His Word. We celebrate His faithfulness and the countless volunteers He has used to raise up generations of resilient, lifelong disciples. We love hearing and sharing stories like the one below and how Awana has had an impact on the family’s faith journey.

When this dad signed his children up for Awana, he thought it would simply be a fun program with some Bible memory verses, something he had vaguely remembered attending himself as a child. What he didn’t expect was how deeply it would shape his family’s spiritual life.

“I had attended Awana when I was in grade two or three,” he shared, “but I had no idea the amount of impact it would have on our family.”

As his children began attending, he and his wife were moved by what they saw. “One of the great things Awana has demonstrated for us as parents is seeing Proverbs 27:17 ‘As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another’ really lived out in our kids.”

Through Awana, their children didn’t just memorize Scripture, they formed strong, faith-based friendships that encouraged them to serve in other ministries as well. “That passion and involvement has inspired our kids to get involved too,” he said. “It has really rejuvenated our family spiritually, in every way.”

He recalled how their eight-year-old son struggled at first to memorize even a single verse. “For the first couple of months, he couldn’t do it without us helping him every week,” he said. “But, by the end of the Awana year, he had memorized an entire second book of over 50 verses all on his own.”

Looking back, he calls Awana “an absolutely fantastic program to be a part of.” Surrounded by like-minded parents who want to see their children grow in their relationship with Jesus, he sees the eternal value of the ministry.

“It’s more than just a program,” he said. “It’s about helping our kids know God’s Word, develop a passion for their faith, and deepen their commitment to the Lord.”
