I have been involved in Awana at my church since I was in the Cubbies group. I continued attending the program through the end of T&T. My younger sister also went through the program and my parents volunteered in various roles over the years. After I finished T&T, I switched into a volunteer leader role with the Sparks group. In the following years I served as a games leader and then became a youth group leader at my church.
During my years as a youth leader, I met my wife in college at the Power to Change group. We were able to serve together in youth group for a number of years, then in 2021 we took on the roles of directors of the Grade 3/4 T&T group in Awana.
It has been so fulfilling to direct a group in Awana. I appreciate all the different parts that come together to make the ministry run. Every member of the team is so important, and it’s a joy to see the kids each week. The highlight for me is the 1 on 1 scripture memorization with the kids because I love to help them understand what they are memorizing. My wife and I are excited to see where God leads us in the coming years.
