John & Mary Skelton
Serving the town of Hope to the BC Interior, Northern and Eastern B.C.
John and his first wife, Joy, became Christians as young folks and served in their local church for the first 19 years of marriage. They became involved with Awana in 1967, and had a Missionary career with ‘Drive In Ministries’. John & Joy came to B.C. as the first BC Awana Missionaries and after 20 years of service they began retirement in 2000. Joy passed away that same year.
John & Mary met through a Bible Study group picnic and were married in 2002. Together, they have served as Commanders and as T&T Directors, and were ‘Ministry Team’ members for the Fehrs who served BC from 2000 to 2010. When Fehrs stepped down at the end of 2010, John & Mary stepped into the role of ‘Interim BC Missionaries”.
The Skeltons currently oversee clubs from Hope, BC, northward and eastward. They are available to assist in establishing new clubs, to conduct leadership training, to encourage club leadership. They consider it a privilege to encourage the children and youth ministry leaders of your church and to present Awana and its available resources to your church leadership.
They, along with the other BC Teams host inter-club activities such as Awana Bible Quiz Meets, AwanaGames™, Sparks-A-Rama, Awana Scholarship Camp and annual province-wide Ministry Conferences.
Awana Missionaries are supported by prayer and financial donations from churches, families and individuals who desire to be partners in reaching boys, girls and families for Jesus Christ.
