Harvey and Lil Fehr
Our Hope is that children & youth across BC come to know, love and serve the Lord Jesus Christ.
Harvey was raised in a Christian home in a farming community in Saskatchewan, where, at 8 years of age he accepted Jesus as his Saviour. After high school graduation, Harvey completed an apprenticeship as an optician and continued in the business for 20 years before becoming an Awana missionary. Lil was raised on a farm in Saskatchewan and accepted Christ as her personal Saviour at 14 years of age after her family moved to BC. After being high school sweethearts, Harvey and Lil were married in 1980 and continued to work full time in their respective fields.
At their home church, Penticton Alliance, they were introduced to the Awana ministry and through this ministry, Harvey and Lil began to fully realize the Lordship of Jesus Christ in their lives. After many years of service on the BC Awana Ministry Team they became full time Awana Missionaries in January 2000. This is a role that is fully supported by prayer and donations from individual and church partners who believe in the importance of ministering to children. In March 2010 they were appointed to the Lead Missionary position for Awana International Canada (AIC).
Harvey and Lil work together in the home office and travel throughout BC encouraging existing club leadership, implementing interclub activities and assisting new churches as they minister to children. Highlights to the road trips are visiting Awana Clubs in local churches and working with the clubbers one on one. As Lead Missionaries for Canada, there role is to provide encouragement and leadership with the missionary team as they liaison with Awana International Canada board of directors.
Between road trips, many hours are spent in the home office corresponding with leaders and clubbers and organizing events. These events include Bible Quiz Meets, AwanaGames, Sparks-A-Rama, Ministry Conferences and Scholarship Camp. Much of their time is spent in organizing training events for all levels of Children’s Ministry Leadership. Harvey and Lil are active in their local Awana Club and church in Kamloops. Their grown children, Jason and CJ, also live in the Kamloops area.
